A Bit About Dr. Conway

Chris Conway is a career educator, having spent the better part of the last thirty years teaching and coaching young people in a variety of roles, ranging from athletics to school administration to classroom instruction. 

He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from UCSD, a master's degree in the teaching of reading and a doctorate in education from Southeastern University (FL).

Though his passion has always been language arts and writing, he has classroom experience teaching a variety of subjects at both middle and high school levels, including math, US History, and economics.

Work Experience

September 2005 - June 2019

King’s Way Christian High School, Vancouver, WA

English Teacher  

  • Develop curriculum and courses for new high school’s English department

  • Create scope and sequence for English department in grades ranging from 6th to 12th

  • Instruct both Advanced Placement English Language and Composition (10th year) and Advanced Placement Literature and Composition (9th year)

  • Attended Advanced Placement Summer Institute each year from 2007 to 2011, completing seminars in Pre-AP English, AP English Language and Composition, and AP English Literature and Composition

January 2006 - October 2013

Academic Dean (January 2006 – October 2013)

  • Create yearly master schedules for middle school and high school

  • Create yearly student schedule for 150 student high school

  • Coordinate freshman orientations and new teacher orientations

  • Coordinate and schedule all standardized testing, including the PSAT, PLAN and Advanced Placement Exams

  • Coordinate periodic college information nights

  • Counsel parents and students regarding college planning / post high school plans

  • Evaluate student transcripts and follow the progress of student’ four-year plans
